What is
La casa de les paraules?
La casa de les paraules draws on the rich tradition of the ateneus and casals of Catalonia and on international experiences such as the historic New Left Clubs.
At La casa de les paraules, every book, every conversation and every event will be a spark that keeps alive the less rewarded work of building counter-hegemony. Culture does not only reflect who we are: it also has the power to shape who we want to be. Culture as a mirror and as a hammer, able to show reality and to forge a new one. That is the task we want for our space. Above all, to make room for the radical book.
A cultural and social centre for books and the spoken word. We work from cultural cooperativism, the values of the social and solidarity economy and radical culture. It is also the home of the Radical Books cooperative.

Programme
Activities
Debate
We invite everyone, from academics to workers, students and artists, to share their thoughts and experiences. We will build an inclusive dialogue that crosses social and cultural barriers and becomes a true laboratory of ideas and practice.
Laboratory
We will open a forum in the heart of Horta where ideas can clash freely. This space will help critical voices that challenge the dominant narrative to emerge, feeding the intellectual and political growth of our community.
Political education
We will run programmes and workshops that empower participants to become agents of their own change. They will be designed to spark active participation in building a resilient, dynamic and rooted community.
